Blue & Fur

As worn by Jonathan Rhys Meyer in "the Tudors" season 4 episode 4 when Henry VIII visits the North for the first time since the Pilgrimage of Grace. His striped doublet is both blue wool and purple satin. His breeches are of the same purple colour as the doublet but with terns instead. Above the doublet is Henry's signature fashion mark: a dark fur vest. And to top it all off a large golden chain changing between topazes and pearls.
Just at the tip of the neck a very small dark ruff peeps out which is probably a part of his shirt underneath (it can also be seen at the edge of the sleeves). Though it cannot be seen on this picture he is also wearing tall, black leather boots.

A Golden King

Charles Laughton plays Henry VIII in "Young Bess" from 1953 in which he wears this costume. The main material is gold - golden fabrics in both terns and nearly paisley. The sleeves opens up to reveal the white linen shirt underneath. Also, several lines of different fabrics has been used to adorn the sleeves. However, the white satin band around the "majestic" waist is unusual - normally a belt would have been used. Notice the dagger hanging from the satin; it is also golden. The real Henry VIII had a fondness of fur (since it was a sign of wealth) and this attire follows that particular taste. Pieces of white/grey furs lines the cape that is otherwise kept in a slightly darker beige than the outfit.
The middle photo reveals 18 golden buttons - however these are not featured on the exhibition photo of the costume beneath. The look is topped off with the heavy golden chain with what appears to be pearls at the centre.

Cream Coloured King

Richard Burton wears this attire as Henry VIII in "Anne of the Thousand Days". The jerkin underneath is made from a silk mix in a lovely red shape. It is sewn with gold thread and the embroideries are decorated with stones that is to imitate sapphires, pearls and rubies.
The cream robe is made of cotton and is also sewn with golden thread. The lining is made of cream coloured silk and has been applied with amber looking material. The edge of the robe is decorated with small circles of a darker colour.
